Though hotels are scattered across the
city, as Battambang is fairly small, most are no more than 500
meters to 1 km from town center. There are several new places
in the area of the bus stations, at the north end of town and along
the east side of the river in the center of tow. At the budget end
of the spectrum, there are some unique little guesthouses like
Ganesha and Here Be Dragons and others. |
Walking
District/Town Center (west of the river)
The main body of the town sits on the
west side of the river, as does the oldest, most picturesque part of
town as well as most of the restaurants, shops and bars. The town is
fairly small so even hotels on the east side of the river and the
outskirts of the main town area are within walking distance or a
short tuk-tuk ride, but staying in town center is particularly
convenient to the restaurants and such.

town (east of the river)
Several hotels and guesthouses have
popped up on the east side of the river in recent years, both along
the riverside and on the main roads running east of the river. In
fact many of the towns better places, including several newish 2 and
3 star options are on the east side. The places along the riverside
are within easy walking distance of the town center and Walking
District on the west side, And even the places away from the
riverside are within walking distance or an easy tuk-tuk ride to the
Walking District.
